Challenge

The Californian craft beer scene is booming with over 500 breweries pouring out passion every day. With its philosophy  ‘beer is better when your drinking it with the people you love’, Hamilton Family Brewery set out to do things differently; rather that going toe-to-toe with hipsters and giants, it set out to tell a humbler, gentler story, and be the family brand of the beer industry.

Design Process

How did we define a family brand? We became part of the family. Working closely in collaboration with the people behind Hamilton to understand their unique character, and what it means to them to be a brand built by and for the people they know and love. In preparation for its rollout into grocery stores, we delivered a full rebrand that felt personal while connecting with both craft and mainstream American beer drinkers, ensuring Hamilton Family Brewing maintained its appeal as it grew in ambition and reputation.

Visual Identity

Drawing inspiration from classic Americana and traditional beer making practices and processes that have transcended centuries, our branding delivered honesty and authenticity with boldness, simplicity and feel-good charm. From the logomark to a series of illustrations used across packaging and digital platforms, A handmade approach brought to life the family values of the brand, while a traditional arched logomark showcased the generations of togetherness that defines them.
